Pancakes with Apple and Cinnamon Flavors

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk + 1 tablespoon vinegar)

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons melted butter (plus extra for cooking)

1 small apple, grated or finely chopped (peeled if preferred)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the batter:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Gradually stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in the grated apple.

2. Cook the pancakes:

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface (about 2-3 minutes), then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden.

3. Serve:

Stack the pancakes and serve with your favorite toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or extra apple slices. A sprinkle of cinnamon on top adds a nice touch.

Tips:

For extra apple flavor, sauté the grated apple in a little butter and cinnamon before adding it to the batter.

If you like texture, add chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter.
